Saga sighed and glanced at his phone again, Tora was late and he was getting a bit annoyed. The more he waited at the station, the more time was taken away from their ‘alone time’, which irritated him since he hardly ever got to see Tora as they lived in different cities. And Tora only came to work in Tokyo sometimes but even then he couldn’t see Tora since he always had a busy timetable being a businessman.
Tora grabbed his bag was about to leave when Misa grabbed his leg and refused to let go. ‘Misa, sweetie daddy has to go now.’ She attempted her infamous cute pout and Tora’s heart melted, he didn’t know what to do.
He knew he couldn’t cancel his date with Saga again since the last time he did it, Saga refused to stop crying for 2 weeks. He understood Saga’s pain and sadness, it had been five months since they’ve seen each other and that was a long time for both of them, but Tora couldn’t risk it. Going out so much would mean his wife can easier find out.
Then at the moment she poked her head out of the kitchen, ‘Tora, honey, do you think you can bring Misa with you today?’ Tora gave her a blank stare, even though he loved Saga and his daughter Misa the same amount. He didn’t think mixing them would be a good idea.
‘I have to go on some business for my mother today in another city and I was hoping you would take her, I forgot that it was you day off and that you might want to go see your friends. But can you please take her with you? I’m sure you can give up going to a bar for one time right. I mean, I’m sure Misa won’t like being stuck as Aunty Joo’s house all day.’ She pouted and pulled her puppy eyes, Tora looked away in repulse, it wasn’t attractive or cute at all.
Tora sighed and was about to refuse when Misa suddenly started crying, his heart tore. He couldn’t say no to his precious Misa and send her to that old smelly place. So sighing, he picked her up and his wife handed him her nappy bag.
Tora gritted his teeth, she knew that he was going to say yes so she prepared everything ahead of time. Walking down the street he didn’t feel like a single man, instead more like a single father. But he didn’t regret it much, more father daughter time for him and Misa then without his wife annoying him about how she wanted the latest Prada bag with matching shoes.
Sitting on the train random schoolgirls and uni students smiled at him and Misa whom were crawling all over the seats and onto the old lady next to them. Luckily she didn’t mind and before getting off, gave Misa a packet of lollies. Misa, even though didn’t know what they were, smiled and refused to share any with Tora.
Noticing their stop, Tora grabbed Misa and the bag and exited the station. He was becoming increasingly worried about Saga’s reaction to him carrying a baby girl with him. He noticed Saga’s blonde hair, took a deep breathe and walked towards him.
Saga heard someone call out his name, he recognised the voice, gathered all his energy and turned around and prepared to scream until he was bald about how the entire hour he was waiting, thee old guys hit on him thinking he was a girl, though apparently one of them knew he was a boy and offered him one grand to appear in some porno he was making. That freaked him out.
Then he noticed something adorable in Tora’s arms. Instead of leaping into Tora’s arms he leaped into the littlest thing in the world arms. ‘Tora! You...You…Brought your niece!? Was that why you were late? I love you, this is the best surprise ever!!’ Saga continued to attract more attention from bystanders as he played peek-a-boo with her as she giggled and grabbed his nose.
Tora was relieved by Saga’s reaction, then suddenly… ‘Daddy!’ Misa said and opened her mouth indicating she was hungry.
Saga froze.
Tora froze.
‘Daddy?’ Saga asked with questioning eyes that were brimming with tears that would overflow any minute. Tora panicked he hadn’t thought of anything so he pulled whatever crap would come from his butt. ‘Misa doesn’t have a daddy, he got her mum pregnant then ran off with some wealthy chick. Ever since she was young I always filled in as her daddy, and I guess she doesn’t know im not her real dad. I mean we even look alike right?’ Tora pointed misa in the tummy and she giggled showing her front teeth which was cute to even the meanness person.
Suddenly Saga leaped into Tora’s arms saying how Tora was so noble and kind for being Misa fake dad. Tora was relieved and gave Misa thumbs up which she attempted to do with no luck.
So they set off with Misa on Tora’s shoulders and Saga carrying her nappy bag since Tora was too embarrassed by it. Not cool for a grown man to carry around Tokyo, he still looked young and stylish in his opinion.
They entered a café where Saga spoon fed Misa strawberry cake and his chocolate cookies. Tora hoped Saga wouldn’t go overboard and make her sick. When he stopped Saga from feeding Misa anymore he copped crying from both Saga and Misa until he promised them arcade games.
After Saga won Misa a Gloomy Bear which she thought was really cool, Saga insisted they went clothes shopping for Misa. Tora felt out of place a lot, he never went clothes shopping for Misa therefore having no experience in such things but Saga strangely was.
When the girl assistant from the shop asked if the baby was Tora’s or Saga’s, Saga answer with ‘our’. The girl blushed and ran to the back where she and two others offered candy with delight to Misa whom took more than her pockets could hold. After much debating between Tora and Saga, Tora ended up buying 3 outfits for Misa, all of which he had to pay for.
A lolita sailor suit with matching socks, shoes, and hat. A sweet lolita dress with so many frills he didn’t know how Misa was going to manage and his favourite, a punk skirt with red striped socks with an ‘I’m daddy’s lil rockstar!!’ shirt as well as matching mini boots.
Saga forced Tora to change Misa into the last outfit straight away, which he did since he had no choice. The only thing he could stop was Saga trying to put black eye liner on Misa. She was three and he was not allowing her to wear make-up that early in life, no matter what the media promotes.
Walking around in the park with Saga’s arm linked in with his Tora glanced at his watch. It was getting late and Misa was asleep on his shoulder, probably drooling on him, he thought.
‘Saga, I think it’s time for me to go, Misa’s dead tired,’
‘I know, today was really fun, you should bring her again!’
Tora leaned in for a kiss and Saga also leaned forward. They had to be careful not to bump into Misa. It was passionate but quick, like Saga said, not in front of someone under 15. Tora laughed at that and pinched his cheeks.
Tora waved once again to Saga before boarding the crowded trains, careful not to drop or hurt Misa. Even though he felt bad for lying to Saga and hiding the fact the Misa was his actual daughter, he was happy. He smiled the whole way back, thinking to himself;
The most important thing in his life has finally met the other important thing.
